What we do:
At Trinity Trichology Clinic, we aim to find the cause(s) of your hair and scalp problems. Our goal is to give you an accurate diagnosis and make recommendations to help you treat or cure the condition(s) you may be suffering with.
Meet our trichologist:
Our Trichologist is Belinda Asafo-Agyei, qualified through TrichoCare Education and a member of the ART (Association of Registered Trichologists). She is concerned with hair loss problems, cosmetic trauma to the hair, and scalp conditions such as seborrhoeic dermatitis (and more). Belinda maintains a holistic approach to both the diagnosis and treatment recommendations she makes for you.
Belinda has also been a qualified hair professional for over 20 years and is very familiar with the structure of the skin and hair, both from a Hair Practitioner’s angle and a Trichologist’s angle. Belinda is able to examine and treat all hair types (straight, wavy, curly, afro).
Being a member of the ART, Belinda has access to a wide network of medical specialists, and other trichologists all over the world.
Special areas of interest:
- Afro-curly hair
- Innovative hair loss treatments
- Green cosmetic products (no controversial ingredients used)
- Hair replacement systems
What is trichology?
Trichology is the scientific study of hair and scalp disorders. A trichologist is someone who has specialised in the science of hair and scalp and is able to diagnose conditions which affect hair and scalp. A trichologist will be able to provide some in-clinic treatments (such as those for scaly scalp conditions) and will be able to educate the patient about their condition(s) and make recommendations for treatments and other specialists to consult to help treat or cure their hair and scalp conditions.
We are based in West London, easily accessible through the Central Line, buses, cars. There is free parking available. We specialise in diagnosing and treating any hair and scalp conditions afflicting men and women and any hair type (straight, wavy, curly) of any ethnicity. We also specialise in building a hair care regimen tailored specifically to your hair needs, depending on your hair’s texture, porosity, curl pattern (if any), and current hair condition. We work hard to make sure you get the best service available in our private and intimate clinic. We pride ourselves in our ethics and honesty. We would never recommend a service or product if we didn’t think it would benefit you.
Trichology Consultation: What is the procedure?
To best service you, we always try to get some information from you prior to you making a booking.
You will have a choice of either filling in and returning a pre-consultation form or a free 10 minute phone call so we can assess your concerns and decide if a Trichology Consultation at Trinity Trichology Clinic is what would serve you best.
Once you have booked your consultation, a deposit of £30 is required to reserve your spot, this is non-refundable in case of a no-show.
You will then be given a set of instructions to prepare you for your consultation (what to do with your hair and scalp before the consultation, and what to bring with you to the consultation.
- The consultation typically takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the complexity of the concerns.
- Trichology is a holistic discipline, so the trichologist will be asking you a wide variety of questions on your medical and family history, hair care regimen, current medical status (are you currently being treated for any diagnosed conditions, etc), dietary and lifestyle practices.
- The consultation also includes a manual and microscopic (using trichoscopy) investigation to help in the diagnosis of your condition(s).
- The trichologist may recommend specific blood tests for you to do (through your GP or private clinic) in order to help with the diagnosis. Once you have received the results, the trichologist will be able to analyse them and give you feedback in a follow-up consultation.
- A prognosis and recommendations are made where appropriate.
Trinity Trichology Clinic also offers non-trichological consultations for clients who simply want to learn how to take care of their curly or Afro hair types. These are offered through our SALON (not through the Trichology Clinic). You can contact us through the salon: www.trinitytrichologyclinic.com
Our Trichologist is not a medical doctor (most trichologists are not, although a medical doctor can also specialise in trichology). Advice given by our trichologist will be based on their best assessment of your hair and/or scalp condition(s). People respond differently to treatments based on their genetics, current or previous medical issues and medications they may be taking.
It’s very important that you disclose to us any medical conditions you have had treatments for or are currently being treated for.
Hair and Scalp Treatments
After a trichology consultation at Trinity Trichology Clinic, the trichologist may be able to recommend some treatments that would benefit your hair or scalp. The majority of treatments are available through prescription from a GP or Dermatologist, so a referral letter will be necessary.
Some scalp conditions can be treated in the trichology clinic, such as dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis, psoriasis and other itchy scalp conditions. We can also make ethical products recommendations.
Some hair loss treatments (such as phototherapy) will be available in the future, but we can direct you to qualified specialists who will be able to help you.
It is extremely important to have an initial trichology consultation before starting any treatment plans. Only through an accurate diagnosis, can a treatment plan be effective as the aetiology (the causes) of your concerns would have been identified and that is what a treatment plan will address.
- Biography (trichology)
Trinity Trichology Clinic came into existence after Belinda completed the Trichology Certificate For Hairdressers course at TrichoCare Education, U.K. The course focused on the science of the scalp/skin, hair structure and its needs, as well as the role of different organ systems in the health and maintenance of a healthy scalp and hair. Trichology is a holistic discipline, which means that Belinda extensively studied the impact of nutrition, lifestyle, diseases (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, etc), hormonal changes, medications, stress, and hair care products, on the health of the scalp and hair.
Belinda has since continued to expand her knowledge in Trichology as a member of the ART (Association of Registered Trichologists), and by attending CPD events, further training in the different pathologies which affect hair and scalp, as well as in microscopy and Trichoscopy.
As a Certified Trichologist, Belinda specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of Hair & Scalp Disorders, such as Female and Male Pattern Hair Loss, Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (which predominantly affects Black women), Traction Alopecia, Seborrhoeic Dermatitis, Telogen Effluvium, Alopecia Areata and a vast array of other conditions.
Prior to training and qualifying as a Trichologist, Belinda Akosua Asafo-Agyei is a certified and qualified hairdresser of 20 years standing who first trained in Ghana and later on in London, undertaking many HABIA courses such as Hair Replacement Systems (Men & Women), Braids, Cornrows, Weave, French Plaits and Crochet Braids, Bridal Hair Styles, and Natural Hair Care including Treatments.
